Selling the van, ending a lease, or rebranding? How vinyl comes off, what ghosting is, and how to avoid paying for damage.
How removal actually works
Heat the vinyl gently (heat gun or strong sun), lift a corner, pull back on itself at a low angle. Quality vinyl comes away clean; any adhesive residue wipes off with a citrus remover. A lettered van strips in an hour or two.
Ghosting: the honest caveat
Vinyl protects paint from UV — remove graphics after years outdoors and the covered area can look fresher than the faded paint around it. That is sun-fade on the paint, not vinyl damage, and it is why leased vans should be lettered early and stripped properly.
Lease returns
Lease companies expect clean removal — which quality vinyl gives. Budget vinyl that cracks and leaves adhesive is how removal bills happen. Our kits and fitted work use removal-friendly films for exactly this moment.

Old graphics off, new design on — we handle both in one visit at the workshop, or supply the new kit with removal guidance for the old.

Will removal damage the paint?
Quality vinyl removed with heat: no. Sun-faded paint may show ghosting — that is the paint, not the removal.
How long does DIY removal take?
A lettered van, an hour or two with a heat gun and patience. Full part-graphics, longer.
Do you offer removal as a service?
Yes — at the workshop, usually alongside fitting the new graphics.
